The 2015 Edition of the Abuja International Model United Nations was the 2nd-ever Model UN Conference to be held in Nigeria (After the NIGMUNS, a Non-Governmental Organization) and the first-ever student-led Model UN Conference to be held in Nigeria, followed by Lagos Model UN Conference later in the year 2016 and the Babcock Model UN Conference in 2017.
The Opening Plenaries/Ceremony of the AIMUN’15 was attended by the Ambassadors of Royal Embassies of Saudi Arabia, China and the Ghana High Commissioner to Nigeria. Prominent media outlets in Nigeria such as; AIT, NTA and the Radio Nigeria were all at hand to cover the making of the global citizens and future peace negotiators.
More than One hundred University Students across various discipline of studies were designated as Ambassadors representing various countries of the UN member states.
The theme of the conference: Combating Terrorism within the confine of International Law came handy at a time where Nigeria was undergoing the most devastating terrorist attack led by the Bko-Haram terrorist Organization across its North/Eastern States.
The participants were exposed to the culture of round-table negotiation, arts of lobbying as well as United Nations diplomatic functions and its various processes and procedures of consensus building.
